Super Smash Bros for Wii U: Lucario

Lucario, otherwise known as the Master of Aura, is an interesting character: its moves deal more damage the more damage it takes. There’s a Japanese proverb that relates this to Lucario: the cornered rat will bite the cat. If you’re fighting a Lucario, it would be in your best interest to KO it ASAP. Don’t rack up damage on it if it is at high percentages. There is a cap, though: Past 190% damage, Lucario’s moves will get no stronger. However, at that point, his attacks are 1.7 times as powerful as they were at 0% damage. I will be analyzing its first set of special moves.

Its neutral special is Aura Sphere. This move can be charged and the charge can be held until you get KO’d. The sphere gets bigger as Lucario takes more damage. Anyone unfortunate enough to be close enough to Lucario when this move is charging will take multiple hits. Fully charged, this move deals about 11% damage at 0% damage and 29% damage at 190% damage. This move can be pocketed, reflected, or absorbed.

Its side special is Force Palm. At close enough range, this move is a grab. Farther away, this move is more of a projectile. The range increases as Lucario takes more damage.

Its up special is Extremespeed. The range of this move also increases as Lucario takes more damage. It only deals damage at the end of the move. It deals about 4% damage at 0% and 10% damage at 190%.

Its down special is Double Team. This move is a counter, but it deals the same amount of damage for different amounts of damage. But, it does get more powerful the more damage Lucario has taken. It deals about 7% damage at 0% and 19% damage at 190%.

What color is your aura?
