Fossils have been in Pokemon since the first games. There have been two lines introduced in every game except for Johto and Alola. Galar has released four fossil Pokemon, but the manner of obtaining them is slightly different than previous games.
There are four fossils: Fossilized Drake, Fossilized Fish, Fossilized Bird, and Fossilized Dino. The first two are Shield exclusives, and and the other two are Sword exclusives. When you combine the Fish and Drake, you get Dracovish. When you combine the Bird and Dino, you get Arctozolt. Swapping one for the other will get you two new Pokemon; Dino and Drake gives you Dracozolt, and Bird and Fish gives you Arctovish. Dracovish is a Water/Dragon type with the ability Water Absorb and Strong Jaw. Arctozolt is an Electric/Ice type, which is unique. It can have the ability Volt Absorb or Static. Dracozolt is an Electric/Dragon type with the ability Volt Absorb or Hustle. Arctovish is a Water/Ice type with the ability Water Absorb or Ice Body.
