Dratini is a melee all-rounder. It and its first evolution have the ability Marvel Scale, which increase their physical defense when they are afflicted with a status condition. Dratini’s basic attack results is boosted every third use that restores its HP and and reduces the cooldown of its other moves. It has a choice of two moves, Twister and Dragon Breath. The first slows down opponents, while the other guarantees the next basic attack is a critical hit. At level 5, Dratini evolves into Dragonair. Its basic attack has the same effect, but every third use will change the critical hit to be more of an Electric move than a Water move, which will leave the opponent unable to act briefly. Twister also gets replaced with either Dragon Dance or Extreme Speed. The first increases Dragonair’s attack, movement speed, and attack speed for a short period of time, but does no damage. During this time, landing a basic attack on an opponent reduces the cooldown. The other has Dragonair rush towards an opponent, throwing them into the air if it lands. Any opponent in its path is pushed, and all opponents damaged by this are slowed. At level 8, Dragonair evolves into Dragonite. Its ability is now Multiscale, which reduces the damage received from Pokemon for a short period of time. This has a cooldown, but landing Extreme Speed will reduce this cooldown. Its basic attack still has the same effect as before, but it now alternates between a Water, Electric, and Fire move. The Fire one has no special effect besides dealing more damage. Dragon Breath is replaced with either Outrage or Hyper Beam. The first is similar to Garchomp’s Outrage, but it also triggers the effects of the last basic attack used. Similar to Garchomp, it also leaves Dragonite unable to act briefly afterwards. The other works similar to Venusaur’s Solarbeam, but it deals damage equal to a percentage of their HP and leaves Dragonite unable to act briefly. At level 9, Dragonite learns the Unite Move Draco Impact. Unlike other Unite Moves, this can be used more than once. There is a percentage of the move that is used up each time the move is used, and the farther Dragonite flies during this move, the more percentage is used up. Wherever you choose to land, comets will land, dealing massive damage and throwing opponents into the air. Dragonite will also be immune to status conditions. At level 11, Dragon Dance will increase Dragonite’s movement speed if there are opponents nearby, and Extreme Speed ignores movement speed decreases. At level 13, Dragonite will take less damage while using Hyper Beam, and any status conditions inflicted on Dragonite while using Outrage will not as long.
