Torchic is a melee all-rounder, whose basic attack will inflict a fire fragment on a struck opponent. If they are hit while they have five of these, its basic attack will deal additional damage to it, while healing the character slightly. It has a choice of two moves: Ember and Aerial Ace. The first slows down opponents it hits, while the other is a dash attack that can be used once more if it lands the first time. At level 5, Ember gets replaced with Blaze Kick, which is a dash that shoves opponents, decreasing their movement speed, or leaving them unable to act briefly if they’re pushed into a wall. At level 7 it evolves into Blaziken, and Aerial Ace gets replaced with Overheat, which has it stand in place and charge a kick in a designated direction. While this is being done, the direction cannot be changed, but it is unstoppable (meaning effects that’d normally cancel a Pokemon’s move won’t affect it, although it can still be damaged normally). After charging for enough time, the move can shove opponents, and it’ll deal more damage the longer it’s charged for. At level 8, it gets the Unite Move Spinning Flame Fist, which will deal a decent amount of damage to any nearby opponents, increase Blaziken’s movement speed for about four seconds, and change Overheat to Fire Punch and Blaze Kick to Focus Blast. Fire Punch is an upgraded version of Aerial Ace, while Focus Blast is a projectile that explodes after travelling a certain distance or upon hitting an opponent. Any opponent struck by it or nearby when it bursts will have their movement speed decreased. Additionally, Blaziken’s Unite Move will change to Spinning Flame Kick, which has a similar effect, although it increases its attack for about four seconds instead. At level 11, the effects caused by Blaze Kick and Focus Blast will last longer. At level 13, Fire Punch and Overheat will deal more damage in addition to the attack boost from leveling up. This character’s ability is Blaze, which makes it such that if it’s at half health or lower, landing a basic attack on an opponent with five fire fragments will restore more HP than normal.
