Ho-oh is a ranged defender with the ability Regenerator, which allows it to recover HP when it’s been out of combat for long enough. Its basic attack will be boosted every third use, which will heal its HP for every opponent it hits. It has a choice of two moves, Safeguard and Tailwind. The first grants Ho-oh a shield and increases its movement speed when it takes damage. The second works similar to Eldegoss’s Leaf Tornado in that it creates a path that increases ally movement speed, with the added bonus of slowing down opponents who enter it. At level 5, Safeguard gets replaced with either Flamethrower or Sky Attack. The first has a longer cooldown the longer the move is being used for, with it recovering HP while its landing. Additionally, opponents hit for long enough will get burnt, taking additional damage and being slowed down, and leaving a trail whenever it moves, which chars the ground; opponents who step on this will also get burnt. The other has Ho-oh fly around and scorches the ground over its path, applying the same burning effect as Flamethrower. Similar to Drakloak’s Dragon Dance, this move can be cancelled mid-flight in order to use another move, where it stops in place. At level 7, Tailwind gets replaced with either Fire Spin or Fly. The first surrounds Ho-oh with fire, which slows struck opponents. Additionally, it gains a shield and redirects damage taken by nearby allies to itself. This move will end after a set amount of time has passed or if the shield is broken; it can also be cancelled early to release a heat wave that deals damage relative to how much damage it took while it was using this move. The other allows Ho-oh to go over walls, increase its attack and movement speed, and guarantee the next three basic attacks are boosted. After the move finishes, it lands on the ground and deals damage to any nearby opponents. At level 9, it gets its Unite Move Rekindling Flame, which revives all nearby KO’d opponents. It uses Aeos energy to revive more, needing 9 for two allies, 17 for three, and 25 for four. At level 9, Flamethrower can go on for longer and has a shorter cooldown, and Ho-oh will recover HP on burnt ground left by Sky Attack. At level 13, Fly will last for longer, and Fire Spin will summon a heat wave whenever the shield is broken.
