Friendship

As you know, most Pokemon evolve. They usually evolve when you get them to a certain level, or use a stone on them, or trade them, or trade them with them holding an item. Indeed, Pokemon evolve in many different ways. Today I’m talking about a specific way: Friendship.

If Pokemon were real, I hope you’d treat them fairly. They’re Pokemon. They have feelings. Besides, they can hurt you and others. If you have pets, you should treat them fairly. They ain’t gonna live forever, I can tell you that. But Pokemon live forever (although there have been numerous cases of Pokemon dying, the most famous being Cubone’s mother being killed by Team Rocket, of which I’ll never forgive them for doing). Being friendly to Pokemon has its rewards. They’ll be your friends and not your enemies. It’s not always that way. In fact, there’s a move called Frustration whose power increases the more your Pokemon dislikes you. This is promoting mistreatment. However, there’s a move called Return whose power increases the more your Pokemon likes you. Currently, there are no Pokemon that evolve by disliking you. Although that would be interesting, it would bring up controversies. But, there are Pokemon who evolve by friendship. Here’s a list:

Golbat
Chansey
Eevee*
Eevee**
Pichu
Cleffa
Igglybuff
Togepi
Azurill
Budew*
Buneary
Chingling**
Munchlax
Riolu*
Woobat
Swadloon

*Evolves only during the day
**Evolves only during the night

So to “catch ’em all”, you’ll have to be friendly to your Pokemon. You should have already been doing that anyway. They are your friends, not tools of war.
