Hey guys, it’s not that I’m forever alone, but rather my Pokemon is. What am I talking about? Well, I’ll tell you.
Does playing Pokemon ever get…boring? Don’t worry, happens to everyone. About anything. Things get stale. Like bread. Bread tastes good. But eventually, it doesn’t taste good. It’s not that it tastes any different, it’s just that we eventually get sick of things. But! There’s a solution. If you were eating rye bread, just eat sourdough! Or wheat! Or some other flavor! See, it’s still bread, but it tastes different. It’s good! Then you can get sick of it and go back to rye or another type of bread! So, humans will never get truly sick of anything.
Likewise, you can play Pokemon, but eventually, it gets stale. Then you can start a new game. New bread. But, what if you added something to it? Like Peanut butter? Jelly? Time? Just kidding, time is abstract. That’d be like adding liberty to your sandwich. IMPOSSIBLE! Anyway, this condiment is something new. It’s still bread, with a twist: Condiment(s)!
Pokemon with a twist. These are also known as challenges. My favorite one is the only run. Why? Let me tell ya.
First of all, for the only run, you use one Pokemon to defeat and capture every Pokemon and defeat every Pokemon trainer. Difficult? Actually, it’s easier than just having an actual team. See, you balance it out, right? So when you get to the Elite Four, you have like Pokemon level 40-50. When you have one, all those levels go to one Pokemon. So in the end, you have one powerful Pokemon. But you gotta teach it the right moves, make it hold the right items, and train it the right way. Why is it easier? Less worry. You don’t have to worry about six Pokemon. You only got one to take care of. Easy, right? I highly suggest Zigzagoon in Ruby, Sapphire, and/or Emerald. Its ability Pickup allows it to possibly pick up free items after battles. Sell those or save those, use them later. You can buy, like 40 hyper potions. No revives since, if your Pokemon faints, you black/white out. At the end of the game, you have this unstoppable beast. Plus, it just destroys all Pokemon like they were twigs. The higher the level of the Pokemon with Pickup, the better the items. You can get items when they were not available yet. No switching, just one Pokemon. I’ve done many only runs. Mostly Zigzagoons. One time I did it with an Aipom, another time, I did it with a Pachirisu. It’s fun. You get attached to your Pokemon, too, and you feel like it’s your best friend forever.
Please, if you ever get bored, just start a new game, pick a Pokemon that you can get early in the game, and only use that one. It’s funny, too, because you defeat the champion with nothing but a Zigzagoon…Anyway, it doesn’t have to be a Pokemon with Pickup (although the game is much easier that way). One time I did it with a Rattata (Joey Challenge) and I turned out fine.
Here’s a list of possible Only Run candidates:
Note: You can evolve these, but it’s more fun if you don’t. Besides, a level 100 Zigzagoon is cooler than a level 100 Linoone, no?
Note: All of these Pokemon will stop evolving at level 100 except if you evolved Nidoran, then, even if it’s level 100, can still be evolved with a Moon Stone. Same with Poliwag into Poliwhirl; Poliwhirl evolves with a Water Stone. Pikachu evolves with a Thunder Stone.
Note: If you didn’t evolve Pidgey, Caterpie, Weedle, Hoppip, Wurmple, Starly, Shinx, or Lillipup at level 99, you can’t get their final-evolved forms ever (on that specific Pokemon).
Note: If you didn’t evolve Rattata, Spearow, Mankey, Kakuna, Metapod, Pidgeotto, Hoothoot, Sentret, Ledyba, Spinarak, Zigzagoon, Poochyena, Wingull, Bidoof, Kricketot, Purrloin, or Patrat at level 100, you can’t get their evolved form ever (on that specific Pokemon).
Note: Golbat, Zubat’s evolution, evolves with friendship into Crobat. If you want a level 100 Crobat when your Golbat is at level 99, be friendly to it and raise it a level, and it will evolve.
