Robin (not Batman’s partner), otherwise known as the Tactician Magician is making his/her first appearance in the Smash Bros series. Notice I said his/her. This is because Robin can played either as a male or a female. I will be analyzing his/her first set of special moves.
His/her neutral special is Thunder. This move has four different forms. The form depends on how long this move is charged for. Thunder is the weakest, dealing only about 3% damage. Elthunder is the second weakest, dealing about 9% damage. Arcthunder is the second strongest, dealing multiple hits that add up to around 10% damage. Thoron is the strongest, dealing multiple hits that add up to about 10% damage. If the special button is held when Thoron is activated, it can deal about 9% more damage. Robin has a limited number of times he can use these moves before he will have to wait about 9 seconds to use it again. Each form has a different number:
Thunder: 1 use
Elthunder: 3 uses
Arcthunder: 5 uses
Thoron: 8 uses
You can do the math to figure out how you want to use your 20 uses. You can use Thunder 20 times, Arcthunder 4 times, or Elthunder 5 times and Arcthunder once. But, this number can be passed. For example, you can use Thoron three times, even though that would be counted as 24 uses. One of your best bets would be to use Elthunder 6 times and Thoron once, which is the equivalent of 27 uses. This move can be pocketed, but I would suggest only pocketing Thunder, Elthunder, or Arcthunder, as Thoron is difficult to pocket. It would be better to absorb or reflect it.
His/her side special is Arcfire. This move deals multiple hits. It can be pocketed, reflected or absorbed.
His/her up special is Elwind. This move can be used 9 times before having to wait 6 seconds before using it again. This can be devastating, as this is Robin’s only method of recovering. This move can be pocketed, reflected or absorbed.
His/her down special is Nosferatu. This move allows Robin to deal damage to any opponent caught up in this move while healing Robin. The opponent has to be close, though. It should also be noted that this move can only be used four times and takes forty seconds to recharge.
Who do you like better: the male Robin or the female Robin.
