Jigglypuff, otherwise known as the Sleepy Singer, is making its fourth appearance in the Smash series. He debuted alongside Pikachu as the only other Pokemon character, like how Mario and Luigi were the only two Super Mario characters. You might look at this Pokemon and think how this Balloon Pokemon can hurt anything. This Pokemon can pack a punch, however. Being the lightest character in the game has its drawbacks, but it also has some advantages. Remember, lighter characters can escape from combos more easily but are more easy to launch. I will be analyzing its first set of special moves.
Its neutral special is Rollout. This move needs to be fully charged in order to deal any damage. It deals about 14% damage. Don’t use it on an opponent in the air because it makes you helpless. The charge can be held but has to be used before doing anything else.
Its side special is Pound. This move is not particularly powerful, but it has some interesting features:
- It slows Jigglypuff’s descent
- Does considerable shield damage
- Sends the opponent flying upward
It deals about 11% damage.
Its up special is Sing. This move is not recovery. Jigglypuff’s recovery is its jump, since it has six of them. This move deals no damage but any opponent close enough to you will fall fast asleep. Characters with higher percentages tend to sleep longer. This is good because if you manage to pull this move off, your opponent is pretty much done for.
Its down special is Rest. This move is incredibly powerful, being able to collectively deal about 56% damage. Of course, there’s a twist: you have to be precise with the hit. If you miss, you’ll be punished. Badly. Rest makes Jigglypuff fall asleep for a few seconds. It’s really only good for a KO move, since it has a lot of knockback. The hit itself deals 20% damage, but a flower blooms on the opponent’s head, dealing about 36% damage until it falls off.
Who do you like more: Pikachu or Jigglypuff?
