Considering we know little about Pokemon Sun and Moon, any new information that is revealed is precious. For instance, today we learned about a new Pokemon called Salandit. But before I get to that, let me explain something.
Poison has been a type since generation one. In fact, the most Poison type Pokemon were released in that generation, with 33. Don’t believe me?
Anyway, Poison types had moves such as Poison Powder and Poison Gas which would definitely poison the target (as long as it wasn’t a Poison type) and other moves such as Poison Sting and Sludge did damage and had a chance of poisoning the target. Since then, there have been other moves added such as Poison Jab and Cross Poison which could also poison the target. However, Steel types were added in generation two, which were also immune to not only poison, but Poison type attacks. Then, abilities were added, some of which prevented (Immunity) or cured poison (Shed Skin). Either way, there have always been certain countermeasures you can take to prevent or cure poison. Even being badly poisoned is not as severe as it used to be. However, there is a new Pokemon that will make you want to use Poison types again.
Salandit, the Toxic Lizard Pokemon, is a Poison/Fire type (Take that, Fairies). This is a unique typing so far. This Pokemon is similar to Heatran in a way, as they both doubly resist Fairy type moves and have a type that is strong against them. However, Salandit is not a legendary (at least, I don’t think it is). However, it has an interesting new ability called Corrosion. This ability basically ignores the opponent’s type. The opponent could be a Poison type Zubat or a Steel type Skarmory and Salandit will be able to poison or badly poison them. If your opponent has a Togedemaru, they will be in for a surprise when you poison it!
Do you like Salandit? Why or why not?
