Not much news this time. We learned about not a new Pokemon in the Alola region, but instead a regional variant. I feel like Youngster Joey would like this one.
Yes, Rattata has its own regional variant. It is a Dark/Normal type (which is a unique type) with either the ability Gluttony or Hustle. Rattata could already have Hustle in its regular variant, but now instead of Run Away (which has no competitive use) it has Gluttony. Gluttony is not terribly useful, but it’s better than Run Away. Any Pokemon with this ability will use a Berry that would normally be used at 25% HP and instead use it at 50% HP.
We also learned that certain Pokemon have their own unique Z-Moves. The only Pokemon that we know so far that has one is Alola Raichu. Its Z-Move, Stoked Sparksurfer, would probably be Electric type.
If you’re unsure of whether or not you want to get Sun and/or Moon, Nintendo will actually give you a reward if you pre-order the game. If you do, you will get a Munchlax. You may be thinking, why would I potentially waste money on this game if all I get in return is a Munchlax?
That’s a perfectly valid reason not to buy the game. However, Munchlax’s evolution, Snorlax, also has its own unique Z-Move called Pulverizing Pancake. It needs is a Snorlium Z, which will most likely only be available if you pre-order the game. It will probably be available through normal gameplay in the next installment of games. Why do I think this? Well, because Nintendo has done this before. For pre-ordering X and Y, you were given a Torchic with a Blazikenite. However, the next installment of games, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, gave us the option to get Torchic through normal gameplay, as well as get a Blazikenite.
That’s it for now. One more thing. Torchic is a Generation 3 Pokemon, released as an event for Generation 6, and became easier to get in the next installment of games (which were remakes). Munchlax is a Generation 4 Pokemon. I think you know what might be the next installment of games…
P.S: If you didn’t know, I was talking about Diamond and Pearl remakes.
